FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The UREC HPER building hosted intramural soccer teams for sororities Alpha Delta Pi and Chi Omega as the two came head to head during the Intramural Indoor Women’s Soccer Championship Game Wednesday night, with the Chi O’s besting ADPI for a 1-0 victory.
ADPI received the ball during kickoff; however the team missed several opportunities to score for the entirety of the game.
Both teams went back and forth allowing their defenses take the lead. Unfortunately, there would be no score going into halftime.
With five minutes left in regulation, a goal was finally scored by Alena Ultes, a Chi O player. This was the first and only goal of the game.
“So, this was our first year organizing a team and everything,” Laura Seibert, Chi O’s captain and co-intramural chair said. “So, it was just honestly really great to come out and just, we had a blast, it was so fun. So, to be able to win, that was really cool.”

Although being awarded possession of the ball twice, ADPI was unable to sink a goal.
A missed opportunity at the beginning of the second half was questioned whether Chi O’s goalie improperly handled the ball with her hands, while the other was a foul that was made on ADPI’s captain and intramural chair, Elizabeth Weir.
The foul on Weir happened with 10 seconds left in the game. Emory Oldham, another ADPI player, was denied a goal with a penalty kick.
Both teams met before on March 4 with Chi O being the victor during an 8-2 win.
“We knew we had already lost the first game 8-2,” Weir said, “but we had a different like plan for this game and we went in with a really good mindset and we stayed with it for most of the game. They just got a really unlucky goal at the end. Then we ended up losing 1-0, but like overall we did really good. I think if we rematched them, we definitely could have beaten them, but maybe next year.”
The Chi O team celebrated by receiving shirts that commemorated their win.
